I am currently inundated with new experiences as I live and study here in Eskişehir, Turkey. I want to be able to record some of them. Here they are.

Atatürk

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was Turkey's first president and is credited with its founding in 1923. The closest figure we have to Atatürk  in America is George Washington, but that doesn't adequately describe how prevalent his name and image are here in Turkey. Their major airport, stadium, and a large dam are all named in is honor. Monuments throughout the city are erected to him and he has a whole floor in the local museum exhibiting his silverware and pajamas. Before Atatürk Turks didn't use last names, you were "Mike son of Greg." Atatürk instituted sur names and due to his importance no one is allowed to take his last name, which means father of Turks. If I ever play Halo/COD again my handle will be Atatürk. Pictures of Atatürk can be seen everywhere and he is said to be easily recognized by his eyebrows.

Dem eyebrows.
Inception Ataturk pic.

Where's Ataturk?
Ataturks gat and sword is exhibited, along other personal effects, at the local museum. The guy had extensive military experience.

Atterberg not Ataturk! Terzaghi studied and taught in Istanbul for a period of time, so excited to visit his old stomping grounds!
